Fall is the best time of year for our business but you need a strategy to take advantage of the season. The reason the coming season is so great is that most people’s schedules are a lot more stable. Great weather, vacations, kids at home, pool parties (instead of home parties) are just some of the distractions of summer. Don’t get me wrong, enjoying the summer to the fullest is one of the reasons our business is so great – FREEDOM. But don’t miss out on the best business building season of the year.
August, September, October and some of November is traditionally the biggest yearly period of growth in our industry. The kids are back in school, the weather is still good and people are ready to focus on their normal routine for a while. Also, many people are reconnecting with their school friends and neighbors. All good things.
So, let’s put together a strategy to make the next few months your best ever.
The first thing to do is to take a close look at your business. I’m talking about the actual numbers like the number of active customers in your base, the average monthly order size and the number of the new people joining your business each month. You also want to identify the people in your business that are working or want to start working. Once you have a clear picture of where you are and where you want to be you can create a simple plan to accomplish your goals.
The next thing to look at is what kind of promotions your company is offering. Taking advantage of these promotions can really leverage your time and create a lot of activity in your team. For example, if your company is running a vacation contest you can build a group of people who are serious enough to run on this promotion. However, not everyone is going to be at that level, so, check and see if there is a smaller promotion, like a weekly “top producer”, that you could piggy-back on. Generally speaking, your company promotions are designed to create the same result you want in your business so use them to your benefit. Remember: earning the company trip is only a side benefit of the real success of taking your business to the next level!
Now, you need to make some decisions as to how much time you can commit to during the next 90 days, or so. If you have 10 hours a week (and you do, by the way) how will you use them to achieve your goals? 80% of your time needs to be on personal recruiting, that never changes, but what about the rest? Recognition! Recognize the people who are achieving small steps towards your team’s goals. Make a hero out of the weekly producers, even if it is just enrolling one new customer, it all adds up. Host a weekly conference call of group meeting and make sure you give lots of recognition. Many people will do MUCH more for recognition than they will do for a check.
Here is a big key: you need to ignite your fall season push. Some kind of a launch event is a great way to start even if your team is small. Get commitments and give encouragement to all that attend.
